One: M.I.A, her music is wicked (I recommend Kala) and she’s one of the strongest women I know. Her baby was due the day of the Grammys but she spent the day dancing and posing! Now that’s someone I admire. Her feet are swollen, she needs to pee every 15 minutes and she’s shaking her booty with the likes of Jay-Z. Bloody awesome character, right there. Two: When did diagrams become cool? I don’t know, but I like it. If you’re into heavy metal, or even know some heavy metal band names, this bloke called Doogie Horner has compiled an awesome list of all the bands you would ever need to know. I’ve also fallen in love with Indexed. I love blogs that have a good idea and just go with it.
Three: Sigur Ros. Listening to their music gives me goosebumps and it also helps me concentrate when I’m working. Listening to Sigur Ros makes me love people more, and that can only be a good thing.
There was a study I read about where ants and termites were blasted with classical music and the scientists found that they worked at 1.5 times the speed as when no music was playing. All other genres didn’t have the same effect, except for heavy metal. I’m more than happy to listen to my metal when I’m working out or when speed is important, but when I need to block out the world and go into my happy place, Sigur Ros is the band for me. Other people can’t stand Sigur Ros, i.e my love and my brother, so give it a listen and tell me (honestly) if you like them. I don’t even know what genre they’re in and to me, it doesn’t matter.
I love that Sigur Ros video! I have incorporated it into plans for when I’m old
